A Buck!

The other day a buck decided to visit our backyard.  It was not further than about 30 yards away as it walked back our back fence.  I was able to grab the camera in time to get a couple of good pictures.

Summer time

I just love the way the water mirrors the birds in the picture.

The wasps always start making their nests this time of year.

Summer Wildlife

These birds often sit on our fence.  There are usually a few flying around.

And of course.  There are Lizards everywhere.

Latest Activity

Bird visiting our patio.

Yet another bird on our fence.

Amazing colors.  We have certainly enjoyed the ducks over the past few weeks.

You might notice, there are only 2 now?

One last picture of the squirrel.

More Wildlife

From time to time we have Turkey vultures that come around.

Mr. Squirrel often comes around.  It's amazing how flexible they are.

Birds love to stop by and rest on our fence.

One of the ducks decide to check-out our backyard.

Baby Ducks

You've seen in recent blog entries that we have ducks in our back pond.  Today, we noticed babies!  I got close for some amazing shots of them.  Here you go.

And the guys seemed to get on each other.  At times today they were fighting and making quite a ruckus.

More wildlife

Today was an active day as usual.  We had some sort of hawk as well I had the chance to get up close to some turtles.  Here are the pictures.

The deer had to check me out while I was taking pictures of the turtles.

After it got dark, we had a visit from our friendly frog.  Many summer nights he goes into one of our downspouts and croaks to his hearts content.

It's a bird kind of day

For some reason, the birds were out today.  I don't know the names of types of birds, but it's fun to see the different varieties.

Here is a bird up close and personal.  I took this photo from about 15 feet away.

I also caught it when it took off.

It certainly was a large bird.  On the other end of the spectrum.  As I was walking near our back fence, this fly stood sill long enough for me to get a shot of it.

A few days ago there was just two ducks out back.  Appears another one has shown up.

Our snowy egret friend as back this morning as well.

I don't know what these birds are, but saw them out back today as well.

And as always, our deer friends were here.

From the Desk of Bob Haataia

Another Sunny Florida day.  The ducks were out.

Working from home has it's advantages.  Here is a picture I took from my desk.  I often see deer across the lake.  With my new camera and it's zoom capabilities, it really gives me a chance to take some good pictures.

Visit from an otter

It's been a while since we saw the otter out back, but today he decided to visit us.  It's fun to watch them swim so gracefully through the water.  I got some good pictures as he decided to come out of the water for a bit.

More Geckos

As the weather heats up, the Geckos are everywhere.  Here one is out on our back fence.

Egret this morning

This morning I got the opportunity to try out my new camera.  The 12x zoom is nice for taking pictures across the lake.  Like many days, birds of all kinds flock to our backyard.  Here is a snowy egret walking the banks of the lake looking for it's morning breakfast.

It was a beautiful morning.  The mist rising from the lake gave it almost an eerie feeling.  I love this time of year in Florida.  The highs are in the mid-80's and cools down to the high 60's at night.

Well it didn't take long to warm up and yet even more activity in our back yard.  As the temperature raises so do the number of gecko's that show up.  Here is one that was enjoying the sun on the back patio.

Later in the afternoon a deer got lost on our side of the lake.  We normally see them on the other side of the lake, but this picture shows it right next to our fence.

To finish off the afternoon, I stood by that same fence to take a picture of a duck swimming by on the lake.

All in all, a day I got to try out my new camera.  It was fast enough to capture the deer running by as well as good pictures of the other wildlife.  The micro focus worked well on the gecko and the zoom worked well on the Egrit.
